Fitness Program

Healthy living involves both exercise and nutritious food.   Our fitness program is based on activity points.  For each of the activities mentioned below (Community Kitchen, Nutrition Bingo, and YMCA outings) a woman receives 1 point.  When she gets 6 points she receives a fresh food prize valued at $15.00.  The food prize can include meat, fruit, vegetables, milk, cheese, eggs etc. (no processed foods allowed.)  This program is sponsored by Healthy Together Now and runs from October – June (with a short break in December).

YMCA Women Only Fitness Outings

Join us every Tuesday morning at 9:30am.  We can all use a little motivation to exercise!  Spend your morning with other women getting fit and having fun.  We travel together to the YMCA – bus tickets and admission are provided.  Sometimes we swim, use the treadmills, weight machines etc.  This program runs from October – June (with a short break in December).

Community Kitchen

Once a month women get together to prepare a healthy meal.  Participants cook together and share the food made to take home to their families.  Meals are made with simple, nutritious and affordable ingredients, purchased by the Women’s Centre.  The program is led by staff and volunteers.  Kitchen space is generously donated by the Manitoba Indigenous Cultural Education Centre.  Check the activities calendar to join us!

Nutrition Bingo

Join us the 1st Friday of every month at 1:30pm.  Women get together to play bingo with a twist – learn some interesting food facts and get a chance to win healthy food prizes.  Prizes often include fresh foods such as fruits, vegetables, milk and eggs.
