Community Supports

ClothesDriveEveryone needs a helping hand at some time in their life. The reality of life in North Point Douglas means women and their children are facing issues of poverty, domestic abuse, lack of housing and healthy food, involvement with Child and Family Services and many other stresses. The Women’s Centre staff and volunteers are here to help.  We are here to listen and to help you make the choices that feel right for you.

We can make referrals and provide information on many things including:

  • Housing/Shelters
  • Employment Help
  • Emergency Food/Clothing
  • Daycare
  • Going back to school
  • Legal Help
  • EIA (Employment and Income Assistance) disputes
  • CFS (Child and Family Services) problems

We also partner with agencies like Mediation Services and the Centre for Aboriginal Human Resource Development (CAHRD).  CAHRD provides help with resumes and job searching as well as options for going back to school.  Mediation Services will provide mediators as needed to assist in resolving neighbourly disputes.
