Drop In

The Drop In is a welcoming and safe place for women, children and families to have refreshments, read the paper, hang out with friends and make new ones.  We have coffee, tea and toast available for everyone, all day.

Drop In Participants enjoy the following activities:

  • Crafts & special seasonal craft days
  • Monthly birthday parties
  • Nutrition Bingo
  • Women Only Outings
  • "Butterfly" Word of the Week

We also have special events in the Drop In throughout the year.  See our Calendar of Events to know what is happening this month.

Other Drop In Services

  • Community Phone (local calls only)
  • Computer Access
  • Laundry Facilities
  • Photocopying, Faxing, and Printing
  • Clothing/Houseware Items
  • Bus Ticket Loan

The Bus Ticket Loan Program lends bus tickets to North Point Douglas Community members, so they can access supports and resources outside the community.  For example, a bus ticket can be used to provide transportation to doctor or EIA appoints as well as job searches and interviews.

The Participants repay the cost of the ticket in 1 of 3 ways:

1) Repayment for the ticket - 1 adult ticket is currently $2.15

2) Return of the ticket - in some instances Participant may receive a ticket once they arrive at the appointment.

3) Work trade - the Participant can assist at the Centre by cleaning and assisting staff.  This time spent assisting the Centre will go   against the balance owing.  The amount accumulated is based on minimum wage.

Men’s Hours

We are a Women’s Centre, knowing that where women gather there always will be their children.  Because men in North Point Douglas continue to be under-served, and because many of the women coming to the Centre have partners, sons, brothers and fathers, we offer some of our programs to men in the community at limited times.  Men are welcome:
